Paradoxical Me

I wrote this poem while struggling to express the conflict I feel towards the Republicans as they gut the safety net for disabled people. The Holy Spirit significantly checked my spirit that was moving away from love and towards hate as I considered what may happen to my friends in the L’Arche community if politicians kept playing games with their lives.

Paradoxical Me

I am unaware

I know too much

I want what I cannot have

I do what I cannot do

I hate what I cannot hate

I love what I cannot love

I am a man of integrity

I am a liar

I am a man of hope

I am a man of despair

I am a fool

I am wise

I am a contradiction

I am a paradox
